The Lakers’ Coach Is Coming to OC Rain Kids Basketball Camp This Summer

Jun 11, 2026 | Spotlight Articles, Summer Camps

Mo Charlo spends his days developing players inside the Lakers organization. This summer, he’s spending his weeks coaching kids basketball camp in Orange County at Rain Basketball OC.

Mo is currently an assistant coach with the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers’ official G League affiliate. In his first season on staff, he was working daily with LeBron James, Bronny James, and Max Christie during Lakers preseason preparation. That’s his professional context. And he’s bringing that entire perspective to camp week.

Our Mission

Developing confident athletes and strong leaders through elite basketball training, competitive play, and character-building experiences that prepare them for success on and off the court.

What makes Mo Charlo’s background different

Most youth basketball camps bring in former players who finished their careers years ago. Mo is actively coaching in the Lakers organization right now. The drills he runs at OC Rain camp, the habits he emphasizes, the way he talks to players about what it takes to develop at the next level — all of it comes from what he’s doing professionally today, not a decade ago.

He’s a former professional player himself, with a career that spanned the G League, international leagues in Japan, the Philippines, and Europe, and G League All-Star recognition in 2014. He knows the game from both sides of the clipboard and has spent years at every level between youth basketball and the NBA.

What Mo Charlo teaches at OC camp

Player development at the professional level is about precision. Tiny adjustments to footwork. Knowing where the ball needs to be before the play develops. Building habits that hold up under pressure. Mo brings that same precision to how he works with youth athletes.

For kids in Orange County who want to know what real development looks like from someone inside a professional organization, a week with Mo is a window that doesn’t open very often.
